La Folie is supposedly considered “one of the best French restaurants in San Francisco”. I can see why. While nothing on the menu completely blew me away, everything was consistent in regards to presentation, quality, and quantity. Don’t you hate going to a restaurant where one dish is absolutely amazing and the rest are mediocre? This place does a great job of making sure each dish was delicious.

Don’t mind the description, I barely remembered what I ate but I do remember everything being yummy.

Amuse bouche: Foie Gras with…something

Amuse bouche #2: Raw duck egg with toasted brioche (the duck egg was SO good!)

Appetizer: Frog legs with custard and vegetable puree (tasted like chicken)

Appetizer: Foie Gras in Caramelized Peach Sauce

Butter-soaked lobster on top of seafood ravioli

Duck cooked medium rare with a side of intestines (SO SO SO good)

Bread pudding with a little note 🙂

Cheese souffle

Passion fruit-filled chocolate bombe with a side of lemon sorbet

Thanks for such a nice meal 🙂

$1 oysters during happy hour? Count me in! Thanks to the long weekend, the boy and I had time to hit up happy hour at Hog Island’s Oysters in San Francisco (it’s only on Monday & Thursdays btw). It’s a good thing we arrived early to put our names down because by the time 5pm rolled around, the wait was well over an hour long. We took our leisurely time, enjoyed our 4 dozen oysters and clam chowder, took in the view, and had a blast. Hands down, it’s the best happy hour I’ve ever been to.

Clam chowder with actual clams inside
